During these difficult times, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux has been working hard to identify the areas of greatest need in our communities, and making sure that the most vulnerable among us are safely receiving those needed services. Catholic Charities is teaming up again with Second Harvest Food Bank of New Orleans for another drive-through emergency food distribution event this week.

In the early morning hours of Monday, September 14, 2020, someone entered the Amelia Cemetery (St. Andrews Catholic Church cemetery) and vandalized/desecrated graves. We are deeply saddened and shocked by the repugnant behavior which occurred in the Catholic Cemetery in Amelia where recently there was the desecration of graves.

Suzanne Troxclair, Superintendent of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Houma- Thibodaux, announced today the dates for the safe return to classroom instruction for the 2020-2021 school year. As outlined in a video released this morning, Troxclair said the diocesan high schools would return the week of August 10-14 for orientation (with specific dates announced by those schools to their respective parents), and the elementary schools returning to class on Friday, August 14th.
